Bernhard Boehler has 16+ years’ experience in the software industry. As the Managing Director at Aspera, Bernhard is responsible for customer management in the international environment, administration and finance, business management and development, and leadership.
Before co-founding Aspera in 2000, Bernhard was Global Account Manager at Software Spectrum Inc. (now Insight), where coordinated high volume software sales for Fortune 500 companies in Germany. During his time at Software Spectrum Bernhard recognized a serious problem his customers dealt with when purchasing licenses. Frequently, the companies did not know what licenses they had already purchased and had no idea what they were entitled to, leading to massive uncertainty when new purchases were planned. Bernhard’s idea to solve this problem was entitlement-centric license management, using the first ever catalog-based technology and Aspera was born.
12 years later Bernhard has been able to use his broad knowledge about software to convince the best and largest companies in the world to rely on Aspera and SmartTrack for software license and asset management. Today, he is Managing Director of Aspera, which is registered in Germany under Aspera GmbH and now in the United States under Aspera Technologies Inc.
Aspera is a highly specialized provider of SAM solutions following ISO/IEC 19770-1 and ITIL. Our unique, entitlement-centric approach has been successfully implemented in international projects for a decade. SmartTrack is the tool of choice for large companies wishing to effectively manage software assets governed by significant volume license agreements. More than 120 world class businesses – including 20 Fortune Global 500 companies – rely on Aspera’s expertise for license management. Aspera has partners in Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands, and UK. Aspera is a wholly owned daughter company of USU Software AG.

This data is used by enterprise IT users to ensure they maintain licence compliance and also to identify optimal deployment alternatives to help reduce costs.
iQSonar has been designed to supplement other tools and products that customers may already have invested in but which are failing to deliver the results they need.
It is also used by our partners to help ensure they provide the best specialist solutions and advice to their customers.
iQSonar was the first third party inventory tool to be verified by Oracle as providing the accurate data needed for an Oracle license review. In 2011, we were runners up in the Microsoft Global SAM Innovation Partner of the year award.
